Tuition
Students register prior to each semester for courses selected by the student in that semester. Tuition is paid each semester for every course. The total tuition for studies towards a degree at the Open University is similar to the tuition towards a degree in all universities in Israel. Tuition may be paid in installments. Full details may be found
here (in Hebrew). Tuition details for the coming semester can be found here.

When should I register?
The academic year is divided into three semesters. Students should register during the registration period set for each semester. An additional fee is charged for late registration.

Fall semester (A): begins in September and ends in January. Regular registration takes place in May-July, and late registration in July-September.

Spring semester (B): begins in February and ends in June. Regular registration takes place in October-December and late registration in December-February.

Summer semester (C): begins in July and ends in August. Regular registration takes place in April-May and late registration in May-June. The Summer semester is shorter than the other semesters and the study load is therefore heavier. This semester is intended for continuing students who are able to cope with an accelerated rate of study.

Admittance procedures
High school students will be admitted to the Open University under the following conditions:

The student is at least in the 9th grade at the beginning of the semester

The student has submitted the following documents:

-

New Student Registration Form - the form can be downloaded here

-

Photocopy of most recent school report card - average grade of 80 or above with high grades in the subjects related to the desired area of study at the Open University

-

School recommendation - the form can be downloaded here

The necessary documents must be presented at the meeting with the academic advisor or sent in advance to the High School Students Unit, fax: 972-9-7780603

The student has met with a high school student academic advisor near his home or at the Open University

If asked to, the student will undergo a test of mathematical thinking (there is no need to prepare for the test since it is not based on high school mathematics)

In case of doubt the student will be asked to prepare an assignment at home. The materials and the questions will be sent to the student's home. All students can experience preparing an open assignment if they wish to, even if they haven't been asked to do so.

Special cases: Irregular requests should be sent directly to Rachel Rimer, Assistant Dean of Academic Studies for High School Students, tel: 972-9-7781168, fax: 972-9-7780603.

Students accepted to studies:

Fill out a "New Student Registration Form", (download here) signed by the student and parents. Students may enroll in only one course in their first semester of studies. Be sure to note the appropriate occupation code for high school students (76) on the registration form to receive special benefits granted to high school students.

Receive approval of a high school academic advisor indicated either by the advisor's signature on the registration form or approval transmitted by computer.

Submit the filled-in and signed form to the study center where you plan to study (for study frameworks 2-4 here) or mail it to the Open University Registration Center if you chose to study at regular Open University study center (study framework 1 here).
