55156 Practicum (Practical Training) in Teaching Oral Law and Jewish Thought 1

Prerequisites: Teaching Oral Law and Jewish Thought: Methodology and Philosophy of Education 2

Objective: To enable student teachers to observe and experience teaching Oral Law and Jewish Thought in high school.

Structure: Every student teacher is assigned a mentor teacher. Training includes three components: Observation – acquaintance with the school and the classes, participation in school activities and structured observation (at least 20 lessons) in the mentor teacher’s class; Teaching – ten hours of teaching in the mentor teacher’s class with the guidance of the mentor teacher. The last two hours serve as a test for the student teacher; Tutorials – five 2-hour sessions are held during the training period to discuss problems that arose during practice teaching, and team teaching.


1No academic credits are awarded for this course, but it is equivalent to 10 semester hours.
