22997 Graduate Project in Computer Science
Credits: 4 graduate credits in Computer Science
Prerequisites: Admission to the graduate program in Computer Science, and at least 3 graduate courses at the Open University. Enrollment is subject to the written approval of the faculty member responsible for the project.
The goal of the graduate project is to develop the ability to devise solutions to applied problems in Computer Science. It is possible (and encouraged) to make the project the applied part of the thesis or the final paper. Students will be asked to apply advanced knowledge in Computer Science in order to solve an applied problem.
They will have to demonstrate: An understanding of advanced ideas and how to make them applicable in the real world; Ability to learn existing systems such as programming tools; Ability to build an applied system based on those ideas and tools.
At the end of the project, the student will submit a working system (as defined by the advisers) and will present it to the advisers and another Computer Science faculty member in an open-to-the-public talk. The student will also submit the source code and the documentation of the project.
