20381 Seminar: Special Topic in Mathematics
Credits: 3 advanced seminar credits in Mathematics
Prerequisites: at least 36 credits in Mathematics, including Infinitesimal Calculus I, Infinitesimal Calculus II, Linear Algebra I, and specific prerequisites depending on the topic. Students must also fulfill all English requirements and take bibliographic instruction in the Library. Seminar enrollment is subject to written approval of the faculty member responsible for seminars, who is authorized to impose additional individual prerequisites based on the selected seminar topic.
In mathematics seminars, students focus on an advanced topic in mathematics. Each student is assigned a personal seminar tutor who assists in the selection of a specific topic, designing the content and defining the scope of the required work. During the course, students may consult their tutor. Students study the material and submit a written seminar paper. Following the approval of the paper, students lecture on their topic to a group of students and faculty members.
