20339 Electronics II

Credits: 3 advanced credits in Electronics

Prerequisites: Electronics I. Students must also fulfill all English requirements and take bibliographic instruction in the Library.

The course is based on Electronics: Circuits and Devices (3rd ed.), by R.J. Smith (John Wiley & Sons, 1987) and Parallel Electronics, by R. Aviv and G. Golan (The Open University, 1987). The course is a continuation of Electronics I (20245); it expands on AC circuit analysis techniques and focuses on amplifiers.

Topics: Alternating current – complex numbers, pointers, network analysis, frequency analysis, resonance; Large signal amplifiers – operational amplifier, advance circuits, output amplifiers, additional amplifiers; Small signal models – diode and transistor models, hybrid models, parameter calculation; Small signal amplifiers – RC-coupled amplifiers, frequency analysis, multistage amplifiers; Feedback amplifiers – positive and negative feedback; Operational amplifiers – inversion circuits, uses, practical considerations, analog computer.
