The course is intended for all those who deal with visual images, and for students who wish to continue their studies in art history or take practical courses in video and multi-media. It covers the basic components of the visual image and, through guided observation of visual images, provides students with the main principles of visual literacy.
Topics: Formal elements of a work of art – line, form, pattern, space, color, texture, composition; Contents of a work of art – signs, symbols, iconography, iconology (historical, social and aesthetic approaches); Materials and techniques in two- and three-dimensional works of art – drawing and painting techniques, prints and printmaking techniques, sculpture techniques (traditional and modern).
