10381 Business Unit Strategy

Credits: 6 advanced credits in Management

Prerequisites: 36 credits, including Introduction to Microeconomics, Financial Theory: Financial Management of Business Firms, Marketing Management. Students must also fulfill all English requirements.

The course is designed to develop students' ability to analyze and plan a business unit strategy. Students are introduced to the main concepts of business policy, and to major perspectives and theories related to business unit strategy; are exposed to a comparative analysis of these perspectives and practices; learn the use of an expert system for supporting a strategy; perform an analysis of a case study using the system; and identify, analyze and plan a business unit strategy using various approaches supported by an expert system.

The course is based on 14 chapters (approximately 400 pages), selected articles in English, use of a strategy support computerized system and using the system to identify, analyze and plan a strategy for an Israeli business unit.
