English as a Foreign Language

All students at the Open University must demonstrate evidence of English language proficiency.

In contrast to students in Israel, students abroad are entitled to enroll in English courses (levels A-E) without first passing the proficiency exam held only in Israel. This option is only offered to students who have already completed at least one semester as students abroad prior to the semester in which they wish to enroll in the English proficiency course. Selecting a course without prior assignment to the course level is solely the responsibility of the student.

English courses specifically developed for distance learning are available on all levels.

To help students enroll in a course that suits their level, they may purchase a self-examination kit via Sheilta, the Interactive Voice Response system or by e-mail to the University information center.
