55321 A Proficiency Course for Teachers of English

The course is intended for high school English teachers. It can be taken within the framework of courses required for obtaining a teaching license from the Ministry of Education,1 or for enrichment and development of teaching skills.2

The course aims to improve oral skills and impart pedagogical tools through the learning experience.

Topics: Spoken English in the classroom; News and media; Songs and poetry; Grammar games; Group discussions; Pronunciation and the use of taping to correct errors; Use of video; Use of internet.

Structure: Weekly face-to-face meetings; Practical exercises and group work; Final project.


1Admission to studies toward a teaching license is dependent on terms specified in a letter of referral that teachers receive from the English Inspectorate at the Ministry of Education.

2For the course to be recognized for continuing education compensation [gmul bemaslul ishi], teachers need authorization in advance from the English Inspector in the district in which they work.
