20591 Seminar: Special Topic in Geology 1

Credits: 3 advanced seminar credits in Geology

Prerequisites: 36 credits in the Sciences. Students must also fulfill all English requirements and take bibliographic instruction in the Library. Additional prerequisites depend on the topic chosen when the course is approved by the Natural Sciences subcommittee.

To fulfill the degree requirements in the Natural Sciences, students must take at least one seminar course among the variety offered by the Open University, or write a seminar paper not within the framework of a seminar course.

The topic of the paper may be theoretical (focusing on a chosen topic in Geology) or applied (dealing with a selected phenomenon in Geology). Students who enroll in this course need to find a supervisor (within or outside of the Open University), and formulate a detailed proposal. After it is approved by the supervisor, the proposal will be evaluated by the Natural Sciences subcommittee, which will decide whether to approve it.

1In the framework of degree studies, students may take only one of the following special seminar courses: in Geology (20591), Chemistry (20592), Life Sciences (20590), or the Advanced Physics Project I (20382).

For details or questions regarding the course, contact the head of the Department of Natural Sciences.
