10775 Introduction to Quantitative Research II: Statistical Analysis

Credits: 4 intermediate credits in Sociology & Anthropology or in Political Science or in Communication

Prerequisite: Introduction to Quantitative Research I: Principles and Design

The course provides students with the knowledge necessary to understand the use of statistical analysis in research in the fields of sociology, political science and communication. Statistical knowledge is a key tool to understanding and conducting quantitative research in these disciplines. The course clarifies and illustrates the importance of statistical thinking in social research and the application of statistical methods in the conceptualization and examination of various phenomena. It focuses on three main topics: descriptive statistics, probability and hypothesis testing, and relationships between variables.
