10760 Workshop: Public Policy, the Military and Security

Credits: 4 intermediate credits in Public Policy

Prerequisites: Government and Politics in Israel, and two of the following courses: Introduction to Local Government, Introduction to Public Administration, Public Policy

The workshop is based on a reader edited by Yagil Levy.

The workshop focuses on the mutual impacts between military and public policies. It offers theoretical tools and tests their usefulness to the case of Israel. Though the image of an “army that has a state” dominates the public discourse, the workshop will attempt to tackle this image and show the dynamic influence of the army on the public policy and especially the increasing influence of civilian policies on the manner in which the army is managed.
