Prerequisites: Contemporary Philosophy of Mind, Introduction to Computer Science Using Java (or both Introduction to Computer Science Using Java I and Introduction to Computer Science Using Java II, or Fundamentals of Programming with Java), and one of the following: Introduction to Statistics for Students of Social Sciences I, Introduction to Statistics and Probability for Science Students, Probability for Computer Science Students, or Probability Theory; and Physiology of Behavior1

The course presents the central issues in cognitive science, from the disciplines that make it up: linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, and computer science, their areas of interface, and their theoretical foundations. The course includes lectures by experts from the Open University and other institutions.


1Students who have not completed Physiology of Behavior but have taken the mid-year exam in the course and fulfilled all the other requirements may, with the permission of the course coordinator, enroll in this course.
